World food prices to jump

Food prices are set to rise around the globe after years of decline, with climate change making it harder for the world's poorest to get adequate food, according to a report released Tuesday.

식량가격이 기후 변화로 몇 년 동안 하락한 뒤 다시 오르기 시작해 빈국에 충분한 식량을 공급하기 어려워지고 있다는 보고가 4일(현지시간) 발표됐다.

지구 온난화와 더불어 중국과 인도처럼 급성장하는 개발도상국에서의 식량소비 증가가 세계 식량 시스템에 부담이 되고 있다.

국제식품정책연구소(international Food Policy Research institute, IFPRI)는 이는 식료품 가격이 당분간 상승할 것이라는 것을 의미한다고 밝혔다

The institute said in a report that hunger and malnutrition could rise as poor agricultural communities most sensitive to the environment, such as in Africa, are hurt.

연구소는 아프리카처럼 환경에 민감한 가난한 농업 지역 사회가 파괴되면서 굶주림과 영양실조가 증가하고 있다고 보고했다.
